THAT, aware that Article 28 of the Constitution specifies that every person has inherent dignity and the right to have that dignity respected and protected; further aware that Article 25 (a) of the Constitution provides for freedom from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment; concerned that there has been an increase in incidences of Gender Based Violence and Sexual Gender Based Violence and there is a need for a Gender Based Violence Desk for reporting such cases and to also have trained staff able to deal with such delicate cases; noting that since several Police Stations established these desks many Gender Based Violence victims have come out and reported such cases and justice prevailed; this Assembly urges the County Executive to establish a Gender Based Violence Desk and a well trained staff at City Hall to make use of its central location and significance within the County.
